Using Automated Home in Your House

The Automated Home program was designed to suit any type of building, whether it be an office, store, warehouse, school, or home. In a house, the computer would be situated near the main entrance and powered up all the time. A cable would lead to a box or panel in the basement or utility room. From this apparatus many small cables would branch out to all the electronics in the rest of the house: a temperature sensor in the main room; motion sensors, which are standard to most security systems; contact switches on doors and windows; special light switches that can be overrided by the computer; electrical outlets; a siren that sounds when the computer alarm is triggered; smoke detectors and radon gas detectors. These are the conventional items to connect, but many other possibilities exist.

How does Automated Home work?

Every second, the Automated Home software sends and recieves data to and from an interface box. This device relays the messages to all the connected devices. Its power has a battery backup, so it continues to maintain the system even if the computer becomes disabled.
